About Me

Denisse Revés has been a Clinical and Counseling Psychologist for more than 12 years. Since 2016, Denisse has directed the first Clinic of Clinical Psychology and Hypnotherapy in the city of Matola, on the outskirts of Maputo. At the Clinic, Denisse evaluated children, adolescents, and adults and applied cognitive behavioral therapy, Ericksonian hypnosis, family constellation, and neuro-linguistic programming. In addition to individual therapy, Denisse also provides couples and family therapy. Denisse diagnosed and therapeutically intervened in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional and defiant behavior, and various learning difficulties. His work with adolescents consisted mostly of self-regulation therapy, anxiety, depression, self-injurious behaviors, low self-esteem, and suicidal ideation and attempts. Denisse has also dedicated some of her clinical work to autistic children and adolescents. In the Office, numerous Conversation Rounds were held on various topics: positive parenting, youth sexuality, hyperactivity and attention deficit, how to deal with autism, spirituality, emotional freedom, how to face bereavement situations, etc. Denisse worked for several years at the Legal Medicine Service in Maputo – assisting victims of domestic violence on a daily basis. As a forensic psychologist, Denisse has performed psychological-forensic assessments of children, adolescents, and adults victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking, neglect, physical and emotional abuse, and labor and sexual exploitation. Denisse is the first Mozambican woman to specialize in Forensic and Criminal Psychology. Since 2014 Denisse has been a member of the Justice Rapid Response expert list and has participated in some international missions as an expert on sexual and gender-based violence. Denisse worked as a Psychologist for Peace Corps volunteers in Mozambique from 2017 until the start of the pandemic. This work consisted of psychological intervention for volunteers, intervention after traumatic events, group sessions, evaluation and preparation for return, and in some cases, evaluation for medical evacuation.
